Our Origins

We started in 2019 as a spin-off of the Rich Earth Institute, a non-profit that operates the nation’s first community-scale urine nutrient recycling program. Abe Noe-Hays and Kim Nace co-founded the Institute over a decade ago. The Institute convenes the annual Urine Reclamation Summit, bringing together researchers and practitioners from around the world.

Through our work at the Institute, we have developed strong relationships with local farmers who have greater demand for our fertilizer product than we can currently supply. Farmer interest has also peaked as a result of recent soaring costs of synthetic fertilizers.

We received a one million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation's Phase II Small Business Innovation Research program. NSF will match an additional 50% of the first 1 million dollars we can raise in investment.
